Wassail Hogacre

Jan 9th a wet and windy start to the year at Hogacre in Oxford – in black trousers and wellies we helped bless the trees to help ensure a good harvest

Mind you the draw of soup and mulled cider may have accounted for our lack of enthusiasm re going out side to dance!

Barbara was keen to tell Lesley how big the one that got way was!!

Charney Bassett

A wonderful rural scene – red sky at night and harvesting going on in fields near by and a delightful evening with Ridgeway clog and a return visit of Emily!

Having spied us and been lured to the siren like sounds of Havocs in action last year, Emily was waiting for us and gamely joined us in three dances – to think it took me 2 years to master donkey shaving!!!

Emily also showed herself to be a mistress of the egg shaker – thank goodness for the next generation – maybe some of us will be able to retire soon – especially if we have to dance every dance in the evening!!

Saturday morning started at a local residential home – risking losing members to the day room!

All escaped and danced at Hay Castle – great crowd – great backdrop.hay 15 009

Thence on to the pub – where we ended with a 4 side Litchfield – Vandals!hay 15 011 hay 15 010

After a dance at the Boat pub we ended up at the toll bridge – with Leominster showing off their jackets and Lesley showing off her flowing locks!!

The weekend ended with a splendid Ceilidh at Glasbury, an early night for Nigel and a later night for everyone else.  Overnight sleep was fitful – what with the rain on the tent, sheep bleating and snoring! – but a good time was had by all.
