Flashback – Kern Day of Dance

Catching up on past Havoc outings, this time it’s back to the first weekend in June. It’s a fair old hike from Botley to Durham, but a dedicated group of Havocs made the trip to join in with a day of dance and our friends at Kern Morris. And a great chance to dance again with Havoc Claire, who moved away from Oxford to Northern parts last year.

Saturday was spent dancing at various locations around Durham. The rain was kinder this year.

Flashback to May Morning

In the midst of the summer heat, a flashback to May Morning, and a panoramic view I’ve just found on my phone and I rather like. I’d forgotten I’d taken it. A couple of Havocs can be spotted.

Saturday morning started at a local residential home – risking losing members to the day room!

All escaped and danced at Hay Castle – great crowd – great backdrop.hay 15 009

After a dance at the Boat pub we ended up at the toll bridge – with Leominster showing off their jackets and Lesley showing off her flowing locks!!

The weekend ended with a splendid Ceilidh at Glasbury, an early night for Nigel and a later night for everyone else.  Overnight sleep was fitful – what with the rain on the tent, sheep bleating and snoring! – but a good time was had by all.

Prince of Wales, Shippon

At last a sunny, warm summer evening  at the Prince of Wales – a splendid turnout led to several dances with two sets.

Just as well, in fact, there were plenty of us there, and we had no guest side with us. And so no opportunity to relax between dances.

The weather was even good enough for the post-dance music session to take place outdoors. All in all, a fine evening.
