Tap Social May 2018

A new dance out venue – Tap Social in Botley – with a fine band of minstrels

The evening ends in woe – the squire getting crocked by the ground! One sprained ankle later! -Caption competition – on a tenner answers to me – what is she saying or thinking in each or either picture.  Lesley steps in a nurse and health visitor and gives advice on injury management but also can’t resist mentioned the importance of diet, alcohol and play in development and the risks of head lice – you can’t take the the HV out of a Morris dancer!

Folk Weekend and May Morning approach

Oxford Folk Weekend starts today. We’re out and about in the City Centre tomorrow. We’ll definitely be at the Botanic Gardens at 10am and the Ashmolean Steps at midday, but may pop up elsewhere.

Meanwhile, Oxford City Council have announced a change in crowd management for this year’s May Morning. This was covered on the BBC and ITV local news; both used their library footage of last year and we appeared in both. ITV shot footage in the Botanic Gardens last year, and apparently they had a lot of us, but I don’t have any video. But we do have a video of the BBC report:

Appleton Bell Ringing 200

After a week of heavy snow – the roads cleared and 200 people celebrated 200 years of bell ringing in Appleton – Havocs opened with Ring o Bells from Litchfield

Our illustrious band

And a delightful chance for Appeton to join in!

Secret skills – Pete and Barbara started the day dancing ring o bells and ended it ringing bells – in a delightful barn at a great community event.

Mason’s’ Apron – Ale – is there one or more!

Our Hosts kick off the evening with some NW Clog – followed by Mr and ‘Mrs’ Hemmings! – who now have 4 dancers with bumps!

Thence Whichwayz and A bit of Havoc!

Summertown added a bit of glamour, finesse and a delicate touch and Charlbury brought the cheese and …

Every side needs  cheese person!!

Pete did a turn for the Havocs.
